Welcome to my website
Dehlia has been fascinated by the practice of printmaking for an age. Her print journey began in earnest in 2020; armed with little more than a starter linocut kit, she began to hone her skills and explore the medium in depth.
Inspiration for Dehlia’s prints comes in many guises. It could be sparked by a thought or feeling about a place or object, such as an old barn, a dry and sunburnt field, or even the feather found on her door mat. These observations have often developed into themes in her work.
Dehlia creates her designs from preliminary sketches, sometimes gathered whilst out cycling or walking, and later refined in the studio. These designs are then transferred to grey linoleum, hand carved and hand printed using oil based inks onto Japanese mulberry paper. Dehlia’s collection includes both monochrome prints, colourful layered reduction prints and multiblock prints. Her current series of small travel prints are printed using her Adana Eight Five press
Whilst linoleum printing is the primary method used for her limited edition prints, Dehlia enjoys exploring themes in silkscreen printing, mono printing, etching and collage using papers created after cleaning off her printmaking tools.
